Learn about our local waterways and aquatic wildlife while helping to collect data that feeds into scientific research on harmful algae blooms in Lake Erie.
Based out of the University of Windsor, The Real-Time Aquatic Ecosystem Observation Network (RAEON) operates and deploys cutting-edge technologies and provides expertise that helps scientists study the health of the Great Lakes. As part of a project supported by the Canada Water Agency, RAEON is welcoming volunteers to participate in Community-Based Water Monitoring events at various sites around LaSalle and beyond.
Together, we will learn how to collect water quality data, get hands-on experience with water monitoring instruments, use community science apps, record observations of plants and animals, and take some time to enjoy nature together.
This event will run for approximately two hours, and we will visit three sites along River Canard.
Registration is encouraged, please visit raeon.org/cbwm for more information.
